We are committed to providing a stimulating curriculum which is broad and balanced. We follow the guidance provided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework for children in Nursery and Reception.

We implement the Statutory Programmes of Study stipulated in the National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2. We use a wide range of teaching methods at Chase Side depending on how old the children are and how they can learn best.

Year 1

In Year 1, your child will be expected to complete Home Learning each week with your support. The children are provided with a reading record book which must be in school each day and you should sign to acknowledge that you agree they have completed their reading. Other Home Learning includes:

• Nightly reading (approx. 10 minutes including asking questions to check their understanding)
• Spelling shed online activities
• Numbots online activities
• Ocean Maths games or activities, after your termly workshop
• Takeaway Home Learning (one activity per week)

Year 2
