Healthy Packed Lunch

Children need to chose packed lunch or school diners for the whole week. They also need to keep to their choice for the whole half term. Children that are choosing packed lunch will be eating with their friends in the dining hall. 20 minutes is allocated per year group to give the children time to eat and socialise with their friends.

We hold the Silver Healthy School’s mark, which means that we encourage the children to eat fruit based snack and drink lots of water during the day.

Because of our Healthy School’s mark we also encourage healthy packed lunches.

According to NHS choices, a balanced lunchbox should contain:

  • Starchy foods like bread, rice, potatoes or pasta.
  • Protein foods like meat, fish, eggs or beans.
  • A dairy item, like cheese or yogurt.
  • Vegetables or salad and a portion of fruit.

We are also a nut free school which means no peanut butter, chocolate spread or any product containing nuts.
